An Evening of Talent

It is always fun for the youth of the Springdale Stake to get together, and the stake youth talent night was no exception. The audience was entertained by Mario Guerrero as he performed as the MC for the night. Skits, lip syncs and dances were performed by the units, and individuals performed talents such as piano solos, vocal solos and duets, unicycle stunts, and a violin/cello duet. Other youth displayed art work that they had created. It was a packed house as families and friends gathered to hear the talents. The audience showed the utmost respect and appreciation for each talent presented by roaring with applause.

Elder David A. Bednar speaks at CES fireside, says we must not shrink
Elder Bednar shared an experience he had while president of BYU-Idaho,
when he and his wife, Susan, hosted Elder Neal A. Maxwell and his wife
as they visited the university's campus. Earlier in that same year,
Elder Maxwell had gone through debilitating chemotherapy for leukemia,
causing his physical strength and stamina to be limited during the
visit.
"During the course of our conversations that day, I asked Elder Maxwell what lessons he had learned through his illness," Elder Bednar said. "I will remember always the precise and penetrating answer he gave. 'Dave,' he said, 'I have learned that not shrinking is more important than surviving.'"
It is through allowing faith in Jesus Christ and a complete submission to His will that individuals are able to find greater comfort and peace, he said.
"Even with strong faith, many mountains will not be moved," he said. "And not all of the sick and infirmed will be healed. If all opposition were curtailed, if all maladies were removed, then the primary purposes of the Father's plan would be frustrated."

Church Releases New Edition of English Scriptures in Digital Formats
After nearly eight years of work, The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints has released in digital formats an updated edition of
its English-language scriptures and study aids.
The 2013 edition includes revisions to study aids, new photos, updated maps, and adjustments to chapter and section headings.
“The current edition of the scriptures, with its extensive study helps, will continue to serve Latter-day Saints very well,” said Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “This new edition incorporates adjustments that will be a blessing to Church members in years to come, but members should not feel that they need to purchase a new set of scriptures, particularly since all of the adjustments are available in digital formats at no cost. Changes to the scriptural text include spelling, minor typographical, and punctuation corrections.”
