Inter-Faith Harmony Day

The Annual "Inter-Faith Harmony Day", held on February 8th, 2014 in Fayetteville.

It was opened by Mayor Jordan with a proclamation of peace and compassion.

Springdale Stake Public Affairs represented the Church in Washington County in the 7th, annual "Inter-Faith Harmony Day". Inter-Faith Harmony Week is recognized all over the nation and is usually held in the first 2 weeks of February. The Church in Salt Lake uses this time to build relationships with other Faiths by hosting an inter-faith event at the Conference Center every year.

In addition to the regular display of pass-along cards and pamphlets, the missionaries in the Springdale/Fayetteville area were invited to participate by distributing "mormon.org" cards attached to an item reminding others the importance of sharing compassion and service.

A few days before the event, missionaries from the local Zone gathered to make all the handouts.

The City of Fayetteville recently attained recognition as an "Inter-National City of Compassion". They are promoting act of compassion and service throughout the city and on the U of A campus.
Since the missionaries have been encouraged by their Mission President to also promote acts of compassion and serve, Public Affair invited them to participate.
They are encouraging members and others, to serve a person in need, give them the pass-along card and attached item, then ask them to "pay it forward" and do the same.

On February 8th, they were able to share 250 "pass-alongs", pass-along cards, pamphlets, copies of the Book of Mormon in English, Marshallese and Spanish,  talk to many people, teach, testify, share and make friends with member of different faith traditions including: Catholics, Buddha, Muslims, Quakers, Unitarians, Jews, and others as well as followers of Tibetan Monk, Mohammad, the "PathWalkers", Christian Science and more.

Children from the Fayetteville 1st Ward Primary also participated. Singing Primary songs and joined by 2 of our Elders, they made a huge impact on all who heard them.Tears were shed, heads nodded in agreement as we heard "Jesus said love everyone".

Springdale Stake is well represented by the Elders and Sisters of the Tulsa, Oklahoma Mission!

Stake Youth- "We love to hang out!"

Tahlequah Missionaries Visit the University

Sister Maughan & Sister Davis, Missionaries serving in Tahlequah, stand at their information table on the NSU campus. 

The zone leaders also came to help talk to students. 

YSA- Service

The Young Single Adults serve their community with "Random Acts of Service".
Many efforts are being made around the community to show compassion and service. The City of Fayetteville is working towards international recognition as a "City of Compassion". The example of the Young Single Adults and others can be felt and seen-

Prairie Grove Does it Again

Fourth Annual- Prairie Grove Ward Sponsored the Christmas Party for the local Children's Library.

Our Mia Maid and Beehive classes  planned and carried out the event this year.   Even though the weather was not the best, we had a good turnout.  This was held on Wednesday, December 12^th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Library.  There were crafts, stories, refreshments and a visit from Santa.
The Director of the Library expresses appreciation for the efforts and children from the community seem to like it too.

Tahlequah-In the Community

Tahlequah is making great efforts to share their testimony with their community. December can be one of the best months of the year for reaching out and making a difference.
Tahlequah Ward has invited the community to join them in a "Christmas Devotional & A Nativity" 

The Ward has also entered the City's Christmas Parade again this year:

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints carolers.  This is the third year for the church to have a float entry in the Tahlequah Christmas Parade.  The LDS church float is adorned with snowflakes of the season and includes a small choir singing songs of Christmas to bring the joy of Christ to all.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tahlequah is located on Southridge Road, their meetings begin each Sunday at 10 AM, all are welcome. They would like to wish you a Christmas filled with family, joy, love and thoughts of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Merry Christmas!"

In addition to this, the Tahlequah Ward has invited the public to join with them for a special Sunday program:

"The Tahlequah Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would like to invite you to a Christmas music service on December 15 at 10:00 AM.  Please join us as we feel the spirit of this Christmas season & celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are located at 110 Southridge Road, services begin at 10 AM with Sunday School at 11:15 AM & Priesthood, Relief Society and Youth classes at 12:10 PM"

First Presidency Announces New General Women’s Meeting
