Interfaith Harmony Day

The Annual Interfaith Harmony Day was held February 2, 2013 in Fayetteville. Attended by hundreds, many of whom found their way to the “Mormon” display table where they received a copy of the Book of Mormon and a variety of Information concerning the Restoration, the Plan of Salvation, the History of the Church, the purpose and truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Fayetteville Missionaries taught and shared their testimony at round-table discussions. The Stake Public Affairs shared the message of the Restored Church as well as pamphlets, pass-a-long cards, the Book of Mormon and the Family Proclamation. Interested visitors made appointments with the missionaries, learned where to locate and visit a congregation and how to contact the Church for more information.

The Interfaith Harmony Day is held every year in February. If you would like to participate as a volunteer, contact the Springdale Stake Public Affairs.

Have you caught the "indexing bug"?

The Springdale Stake indexed 99,409 names in 2012!  That’s GREAT!  We now have 115 volunteers signed up to Index but we can use many, many more.  They are not all members of the Church - Anyone can be an Indexer.  Already in 2013 (as of February 19th) our stake has done 9,058 names, so we are on a great pace for the year. Some of the Wards/Branches have many more signed up than others, but everyone’s contributions are appreciated and needed.  I’d like to encourage those who haven’t done any Indexing for a while to come back to the work.  We need everyone!

Springdale 1st Ward Young Men & Young Women recently had Indexing as their Wednesday night activity and now are challenging themselves to the goal of 30,000 names in 2013!    Tahlequah had a similar activity and have now caught the “Indexing Bug”.  What a great idea!  This is an excellent project for the youth to do on a Sunday afternoon – on so many levels.  We have several families who all participate as part of their Family Home Evening activity and have made family goals for the year.

If you have questions, you can get information at indexing.familysearch.org by clicking on the Help tab or you can contact the Springdale Stake Indexing Director, Bonnie Hutchins, at bethutchins@gmail.com, or 918-453-7691.  Carry on the great work!

Pinewood Derby Rules

Are you ready for the Stake Pinewood Derby happening March 16th? You've got three and a half weeks to make the fastest, coolest, most styling car in the stake!

Take a minute to review the rules before you start carving.

Dimensions

  • Pinewood Derby cars should be no longer than 7 inches and no wider than 2.75 inches. The two sets of wheels must be at least 1.75 inches apart, and the car's body must have at least a 3/8-inch clearance off the ground to run properly on the track. The maximum weight for a Pinewood Derby car is 5 oz.

Accessories and Design

  • Scouts must use all materials in the Pinewood Derby kit: the pine block for the car's body, the wheels and the axles. Scouts may not modify the wheels with washers, bearings or bushings. Springs, starting devices or anything to propel the car besides gravity are prohibited. Scouts may lubricate wheels and axles with dry lubricant only.

Scouts may otherwise modify cars to their liking--including shape, paint or added details such as a driver or steering wheel--so long as they fall within the specified dimensions. Packs vary on wheel modification rules, but most allow some modifications that do not significantly change their weight or shape.

Seminary Super Saturday

Special Thanks to seminary teachers and leaders, for youth leaders, stake and Ward. Every young man and Women we spoke to reported their delight and excitement for the Seminary Super Saturday. “We learn a lot”, “It is so much fun”, “This is so great!”.

We see the youth rise up and stand as witnesses of the truth. It is inspiring to see their commitment, their love for the gospel, their love for learning, and their love for the Lord. Thank you to the youth for your great example to all of us.

Give Said the Little Stream

Not only does this video feature the beloved primary song, but it also shows individual choir members "giving" of themselves in acts of service. Another inspiring video from the beloved Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Prairie Grove Helping Hands Youth Service Project

The youth group (ages 12-18), of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints of Prairie Grove, completed a service project by picking up trash on
the grounds of the Prairie Grove High School Wednesday night, Jan 30th.  It
was dark and cold but everyone had fun.  The group picture was taken just
before we left the church.
